Directed by John Carpenter | 1976

With Austin Stoker, Darwin Joston, Laurie Zimmer

"One of the most stylishly kinetic independent films of the 1970s."
—Andrew Sarris, The Village Voice

Carpenter’s lean, mean second feature puts a gritty exploitation spin on Howard Hawks’ Rio Bravo, transposing the story to an LA police station under siege by a marauding street gang. The baddies are portrayed as zombie-like killing machines straight out of Night of the Living Dead, the notorious ice cream truck scene is still a shocker, and Carpenter keeps the tension mounting with his own pulse-poundingly iconic synth score.
