Directed by Joachim Trier | 2016

With Jesse Eisenberg, Isabelle Huppert, Gabriel Byrne, Amy Ryan

“Haunting visual poetry… mesmerizing”
—Indiewire

An official selection at the Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals, the first English-language film from Norwegian director Joachim Trier (Oslo, August 31st) chronicles the emotional freefall of a renowned war photographer’s (Huppert) family in the wake of her death. While the family patriarch (Byrne) tries to move on by pursuing a new romance, adult son Jonah (Eisenberg) takes leave from his academic and married life to organize his mother’s archive. Past and present coalesce in this psychologically acute portrait of unbearable loss, which showcases the “clear-eyed, empathetic gaze and supple craftsmanship” (The Hollywood Reporter) of one of Europe’s most acclaimed contemporary filmmakers.

Sneak preview courtesy The Orchard. Louder than Bombs opens Friday, April 8.
