Directed by Robert J. Flaherty | 1948

With Joseph Boudreaux, Lionel Le Blanc, E. Bienvenu

“A powerful, swooning visualization of a wilderness childhood.”
—The New Yorker

Bresson greatly admired the unadorned, naturalistic films of pioneering quasi-documentarian Robert Flaherty. His last is a lyrical tale of a Cajun boy and his family whose lives are transformed by the arrival of an oil derrick on their bayou home. The film’s wondrous, child’s-eye view of nature is enhanced by the luminous black-and-white cinematography and a Pulitzer Prize-winning score by Virgil Thomson.
