Miéville co-scripted, with Jean-Claude Carriére, Godard’s return to “mainstream” filmmaking. Every Man For Himself charts the intersecting lives of a television director, his girlfriend, and a prostitute, wedding a (relatively) straightforward narrative to the themes that run through the couple’s boundary-pushing 70s work: male-female relationships, capitalist exploitation, and the struggle between film and video.
