Directed by Liz White | 1980

Pioneering theater director Liz White (who founded her own company in Martha’s Vineyard in 1946) offers incisive commentary on the racial dimensions of Shakespeare’s tragedy. Created between 1962 and 1966 by an entirely black cast and crew, but not screened publicly until 1980, White’s adaptation features a young Yaphet Kotto in the role of the Moorish general who is manipulated by the wicked Iago.
