Directed by Robert Kramer | 1989
“An extraordinary, fluidly shaped mosaic of the fragmented pockets of American life that together compose the mainstream.”
—The New York Times

Expat filmmaker Robert Kramer set out to rediscover the US on a road trip from Maine to Florida, visiting everyone from New York City school kids to Pat Robertson supporters to members of a witches’ coven, resulting in a fascinating, elegiac mosaic of America in the 1980s. With his alter-ego “Doc” (McIsaac) standing in for him, Kramer captures America through the eyes of a radical leftist struggling to reacquainting himself with an unfamiliar country.
