Tout va bien
In an audacious attempt to fuse Maoist doctrine with commercial filmmaking, Godard and fellow cine-activist Jean-Pierre Gorin cast megastars Jane Fonda and Yves Montand in this scathing anti-bourgeois satire. They play a married couple (she’s a reporter, he’s an ex-filmmaker) caught up in a worker’s strike at a sausage factory. Slapstick and Brechtian disruptions abound, culminating in an epic tracking shot through a supermarket riot.
