Directed by Jean-Luc Godard | 1967

With Marina Vlady, Anny Duperey, Roger Montsoret

Godard’s radical capitalist takedown—ostensibly about a housewife (Vlady) who dabbles in prostitution—is really a brilliantly discursive foray into the director’s own inner-thoughts. Over shots of a candy-colored, Pop Art-bathed Paris, he muses on everything from consumerism to sex to the Vietnam War, even finding cosmic meaning in a cup of coffee.
