“Our streets!” This electrifying, on-the-ground dispatch from the frontlines of America’s ongoing civil rights struggle captures how the protests that erupted in Ferguson, Missouri, following the police shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown grew into a worldwide movement. Weaving together original footage, smartphone video, and social media records, it’s an unfiltered look at the protests from the points of view of the community members and activists who took to the streets—and faced down a heavily militarized police force—to demand justice. The result is a much-needed counter-perspective to the prevailing media narrative and an essential record of a galvanizing moment in American history.

A Magnolia Pictures release.
