“First Reformed is an epiphany”
—The New York Times

Writer-director Paul Schrader’s (Taxi Driver, American Gigolo) acclaimed new film about a solitary man’s crisis of faith is at once personal, political, and planetary. Reverend Ernst Toller (Hawke) is a parish pastor at a small Dutch Reform church in upstate New York. The church’s congregation is dwindling, eclipsed by its nearby parent church, Abundant Life, with its state-of-the-art facilities and 5,000-strong flock. When a pregnant parishioner (Seyfried) asks Reverend Toller to counsel her husband, a radical environmentalist, the clergyman finds himself plunged into his own tormented past, and equally despairing future, until he finds redemption in an act of grandiose defiance.

This special members-only screening of First Reformed features a post-screening Q&A with Paul Schrader and Ethan Hawke.
