Part of Film 2018 series FilmAfrica 2018
Directed by Aaron Kopp & Amanda Kopp | 2017

This wondrous blend of animation and documentary was born from the imaginations of five children living in an orphanage in Swaziland. Drawing on their own experiences with adversity, the kids dream up the story of a brave young heroine on a quest to save her siblings—a thrilling adventure brought to life by vibrant animation. Just as extraordinary are the real-life stories of the kids themselves who—despite having dealt with crushing personal tragedy—display a courage and resiliency as remarkable as their invented heroine.

Content note for parents: film contains illustrated still images depicting risky adult behavior including adult alcohol and tobacco use, child abuse and violence at the hands of robbers, parental death, guns, themes of child hardship and impact of HIV and AIDs including a child getting a blood test.
