Part of Film series Screen Epiphanies
Directed by William Greaves | 1968

Documentarian William Greaves’ meta-cinematic mind-bender lets loose three film crews in Central Park with minimal instructions, leaving them to draw their own conclusions about the director’s intentions (and competence). The resulting film-within-a-film-within-a-film is a one-of-a-kind counterculture masterpiece that “without being in any overt sense ‘about race,’…is mischievously eloquent on the struggles of the black artist in a supposedly liberal society” (A. O. Scott, The New York Times).

September's Screen Epiphanies event is presented in partnership with The Independent Filmmaker Project whose IFP Week (Sep 15–19, 2019) annually supports emerging and established film artists with new works in development by connecting them to industry professionals who can partner to move these projects forward in production and ultimately to audiences.

Inspired by the Screen Epiphanies series at London's BFI Southbank
