No Fear, No Die + For Ushari Ahmed Mahmoud
- 7PM
Dir. Claire Denis
With Isaach De Bankolé, Alex Descas, Solveig Dommartin
1990, 90min
Denis regulars Isaach De Bankolé and Alex Descas star in the director’s second narrative feature, an unflinching portrait of two immigrant black men living on the outskirts of Paris and caught up in the gritty underworld of cockfighting. Inspired by the writings of postcolonial philosopher Frantz Fanon, No Fear, No Die viscerally evokes the psychic trauma of life as an outsider in a majority-white society.
