Directed by Sarah Christman | 2019

Sarah Christman explodes the conventions of the nature documentary to offer a shimmering, kaleidoscopic vision of the end of the world. On a volcanic Hawaiian island, a young girl and her mother work to breed a colony of disease-resistant bees while, nearby, a team of NASA scientists study the area in preparation for the eventual colonization of Mars. As the hive hovers on the edge of extinction and the volcano churns, what emerges is a cosmic reverie on survival and apocalypse.
