Romero and Dario Argento take on two tales of terror by fellow master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe. A hypnotized corpse returns from the dead in Romero’s segment, while slasher stylist Argento offers up feline fiendishness in his take on “The Black Cat,” with Harvey Keitel as a kitty killer who gets his comeuppance. The impressively icky special effects are courtesy of the great Tom Savini.
