Sabine leaves Cameroon to work as a maid in Lebanon, and after many years of servitude, escapes to Belgium. But her arrival is complicated by the fact that she enters illegally, by way of Greece and Syria. Settling in Matonge, the African quarter in Brussels, and looking for work, Sabine discovers a beauty salon whose patrons, many undocumented, are not only made to feel beautiful but can also escape the daily difficulties and harsh realities of their lives.
