Dir. Emily Cohen Ibañez | 2021, 77min
In this lyrical documentary about adolescence, nature, and ancestors, Ashley is a second-generation Mexican-American high school senior dividing her time between school and supporting her family. She lives in a working-class, agricultural California town where the brutal conditions of the strawberry fields stand in stark contrast to Ashley’s spiritual ancestral upbringing—and where ICE raids threaten to separate her family and force her to become her family's breadwinner.
Post-screening Q&A with director Emily Cohen Ibañez.
