With Alec Utgoff, Maja Ostaszewska, Agata Kulesza
New York Premiere! Poland’s submission for the Academy Awards, the latest from writer and director Malgorzata Szumowska (Elles, In the Name of) and her longtime collaborator Michal Englert is the dreamlike tale of Zhenia (Utgoff), a masseur from the East who enters a wealthy gated community. The well-to-do residents in their cookie-cutter homes seemingly have it all, but they suffer from an inner sadness that the mysterious newcomer’s hands seem to heal. With touches of magical realism and moments of sober beauty and subtle humor, Never Gonna Snow Again is a genre-defying meditation on class, immigration, and global warming.
