Part of A New York Season and Film series New York 90s
Directed by Hal Hartley | 1994

With Isabelle Huppert, Martin Donovan, Elina Löwensohn

Isabelle Huppert plays a nymphomaniac virgin (really!) ex-nun-turned-erotica-writer who meets an amnesiac man at a diner and helps to uncover his criminal past as a pornographer in upstate New York. His young wife, Sofia, a prostitute on the run, is convinced she killed him. Each character in this darkly playful film struggles to shed and adopt roles, waking continually to new lives.
