Belle
From Academy Award-nominated director Mamoru Hosoda (Mirai) comes Belle, an anime twist on the classic Beauty and the Beast. Suzu, a shy 17-year-old living in a rural village, has only been a shadow of herself in the years since her mother’s death. But when she joins the massive virtual world “U,” she escapes into her online persona as Belle, a gorgeous and globally beloved singer. One day, her concert is interrupted by a monstrous creature chased by vigilantes. As their hunt escalates, Suzu embarks on an emotional and epic quest to uncover the identity of this mysterious “beast”—and to discover her true, empowered self in a world where everyone is hiding some kind of secret, and where you can be anyone.
A subtitled version of Belle screens for showtimes 6pm and later, a dubbed version of the film screens for all showtimes before 6pm.
