In Jacques Deray’s newly restored sexy French thriller—remade in 2016 as A Bigger Splash starring Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton—two lovers enjoy a passionate vacation at a sumptuous villa. As Marianne (Schneider) and Jean-Pual (Delon) explore pleasure and pain, they are unexpectedly joined on holiday by Marianne’s ex-lover Harry (Ronet). Tension builds as Harry attempts to rekindle his relationship with Marianne and Jean-Paul grows closer to Harry’s 18-year-old daughter (Birkin), until a poolside murder changes everything.
