Directed by Kenny Ortega | 1992

With Christian Bale, Robert Duvall, Ann-Margret, Bill Pullman

“Would that every strike be resolved with so little bloodshed and so many songs.”
—Philadelphia Inquirer

Led by 17-year-old Jack “Cowboy” (Bale), a group of newsboys go on strike when their boss (Duvall) makes it harder for the motley crew to sell papers on the streets of Manhattan. As word spreads across the boroughs, the boys try to gain control of a movement that isn’t designed for them. A Disney-fied look at labor relations during the 1899 Newsboys’ strike, Kenny Ortega’s directing debut saw minimal box office success, but went on to become a cult classic.
