Join us at BAM for a family-friendly carnival featuring walkabout performers and live performances as part of the 24nd annual BAMkids Film Festival. The Peter Jay Sharp Building is abuzz with excitement, showcasing the talents of the dancers of Move|NYC|, the physical theater and circus performers of Parallel Exit, and dynamic BAM education teaching artists.
Festival activities take place from 10am to 3pm.
In compliance with New York City’s vaccine mandate for indoor entertainment, all visitors ages 5+ and staff are required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Parallel Exit is an award-winning physical theatre/contemporary circus company creating original work that speaks to a culturally boundless audience of any age. An avid lover of laughter and general whimsy, Shereen Hickman is best known as a creator/lead clown for the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil. Shereen finds the funny with children and adults alike, bringing joy and laughter while you wait for your film to begin. Part of Parallel Exit.
Joel Jeske, The Joy Meister, is an award-winning family entertainer with over 25 years of experience. He lights up the cinema while you wait for your screening to begin, as a one-man variety show: comedian, juggler, mime, magician, musician, puppeteer, and clown. Part of Parallel Exit.

Mariko will bring her unique physical comedy style to the BAM lobby, melding classical tap, juggling and slapstick comedy, spreading the joy of circus art and vaudeville to children and adults alike. Part of Parallel Exit.
Kyle Driggs and Andrea Murillo specialize in a unique fusion of juggling, object manipulation, movement, and theatrical storytelling. Join them for a captivating performance that will leave you feeling lighter than air. Part of Parallel Exit.
Prepare to be amazed by Susan Voyticky’s precision and balance as she spins and manipulates a “cyr wheel”—something you’ll need to see to believe! Enjoy Susan’s unique blend of circus and movement in this enchanting performance. Part of Parallel Exit.
Lauren Sharpe is a multi-disciplinary performing artist and educator based in Brooklyn. She is an alumni ensemble member of The New York Neo-Futurists, a frequent collaborator with Trusty Sidekick Theater and The UP CLOSE Festival, and a teaching artist with The New Victory Theater, New York City Ballet, and BAM. Part of BAM Education Teaching Artists.
Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Farai Malianga studied African dance and drum with pioneers Yousouf Koumbasa, Mbemba Bangoura, and Ronald K. Brown, and has performed with Chuck Davis, Reginald Yates, Heritage O.P., and many others. He appeared in Darker Faces of the Earth off Broadway and in Fela! on Broadway; scored music for Beatrice Capote’s solo piece “Reyita”; and performed his original drum compositions in The Public’s MERRY WIVES. Part of BAM Education Teaching Artists.
Founded in 2015, Move|NYC| is a multi-pillared New York City-based arts and social justice organization whose mission is to cultivate greater diversity and equity within the dance profession and beyond.
A native of Peru, Albert R. I. Elias is the co-founder and managing director of CreativeStages NYC, a member of the Chekhov Theater Ensemble, and a master teaching artist. As an actor, he has appeared in films, commercials, off-Broadway, and off-off Broadway plays. He is the co-founder and bassist of Imagination Workshop Band, the trombonist for the Suzi Shelton Band, the creator of KIDAPOLOOZA, a benefit concert for the families of 9/11, and the author of two children’s books, Mama’s House, Daddy’s House and Los Estados Unidos.
