Creative Drama: Exploring African Folktales
Ages 6—8
Young actors participate in theater games, improvisation, reading, and workshops in visual art, music, and movement in this two-week program designed to cultivate creativity and foster positive social interaction. The area of focus for this year’s class is African folktales.
Participants craft a final performance to be shared with friends and family at the conclusion of the workshop.
PARTICIPANTS WILL:

• Boost literacy skills
About the Instructor:
Mel House teaches acting technique, creative drama, playwriting, and Shakespeare at Theatre for a New Audience, Red Bull Theater, the Browning School, and Urban Arts Partnership. She has done acting work at Playwrights Horizons, Primary Stages, Atlantic Theatre Company, Red Bull Theater Company, Ohio Theatre, New Georges, Baltimore’s Centerstage, Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
