The Bard in Brooklyn
Ages 11—14
Building on curriculum from BAM’s successful Shakespeare Teaches Students residency program, this two-week workshop introduces beginner and intermediate artists to Shakespeare’s work. Accomplished guest artists lead acting exercises, improvisation, and scene study— plus lessons in theater design, clowning, stage combat, movement, and vocal work. At the conclusion of the class, participants present an abridged version of a Shakespeare play for friends and family at the BAM Fisher.
PARTICIPANTS WILL:
• Develop language and critical-thinking skills
• Increase coordination and body awareness
• Build self-confidence
