Celebrate the power of music and song in this family-friendly concert featuring Zimbabwe-raised, DC-based emcee Dumi Right and friends, alongside local performers and student poets. Get Up, Stand Up! expands upon the tradition of BAM’s annual showcase Word. Sound. Power. to bring the same love for hip-hop and poetry to a younger audience.

Dumi Right was first introduced to audiences as a member of Zimbabwe Legit and has since gone on to perform internationally. His work brings together classic hip-hop styles, thought-provoking lyrics, and poignant wordplay, as well as diverse collaborations with artists from around the globe. Right’s belief in the power of hip-hop extends to his work as an educator, encouraging young artists to share their voices with the world.

Come early for the Get Up Family Workshop, where games and playful activities introduce budding emcees to the power—and fun—of hip-hop! Workshop begins one hour before the show.
