Claudia Rankine is the author of five collections of poetry including the 2014 National Book Award finalist Citizen: An American Lyric. Among her numerous awards and honors, Rankine is the recipient of the Poets & Writers’ Jackson Poetry Prize and a 2016 MacArthur grant. She lives in New York City.
Lorin Stein is the editor of The Paris Review and an editor at large at Farrar, Straus and Giroux. He has worked with Lydia Davis, Jonathan Franzen, John Jeremiah Sullivan, and James Wood. His criticism has appeared in Harper's, London Review of Books, and The New York Review of Books, and his translation of Michel Houellebecq's Submission was published last year. Stein is a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Brooklyn Youth Chorus performs 10 newly commissioned works—by Nico Muhly, Shara Nova, Jeff Beal, DJ Spooky, and others—tackling issues of systemic injustice. Please note that children under the age of five are not admitted into the theater for this event.
