World Premiere

By Darcy James Argue and Danijel Zezelj

"Maximalist music of impressive complexity and immense entertainment value, in your face and then in your head."
—The Village Voice on Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society

In a future Brooklyn, a tower is being built-the tallest in the world. All it needs is a carousel on top, spinning over the city below. Conjuring the seductive majesty of Fritz Lang's Metropolis and the gritty social narrative of Walker Evans' photography, acclaimed graphic artist Danijel Zezelj joins forces with Grammy-nominated composer Darcy James Argue and his steampunk-jazz big band Secret Society to tell this story of extravagance and urban ambition. The result is a feast for the senses: Zezelj paints live onstage alongside his own projected animation as Secret Society scores the rise of this dystopian city.
