“a fleet-footed big band, sliding and swaggering through galactic R&B, brawny jazz and electric funk like a Sun Ra-size spin on Miles Davis’ On the Corner band.”
—Rolling Stone

“A multi-racial jam army that freestyles with cool telekinesis” (Rolling Stone) between experimental soul, jazz, and hip-hop, Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber is in the mold of groups like the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Parliament Funkadelic, and the Sun Ra Arkestra. The group’s self-described “funkystanknasty” sound can be heard most recently on its recent release All Y’all Needs That Negrocity, which features pianist Vijay Iyer and Maya Acuzena among other all-star guests.
