A forceful soul singer in the vein of Etta James, Shemekia Copeland swings with ease from the dirtiest of Chicago blues to lazy-day acoustic gospel fare. The daughter of renowned Texas bluesman Johnny Copeland, Shemekia has collaborated with the Rolling Stones, Dr. John, and others, solidifying her reputation as the 21st century's Queen of the Blues. NRBQ is a wonder of stylistic diversity, having been a top-notch party band for over 40 years. R&B, Brit pop, rockabilly, and even free jazz are all fair game for this maverick band, whose cult following includes Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, and Bonnie Raitt.
