BACK

R&B multi-instrumentalist Van Hunt arrived in 2004 with a brilliant, self-titled retro-soul debut, which featured him as both songwriter and player of nearly every instrument on the record. While that record took its inspiration from artists like Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, his latest, What Were You Hoping For?, turns towards the present, offering a sea of rock-R&B originality rooted in dirty beats, vocal harmonies, unpredictable melodies, and plenty of analog buzz.
