Haitian-born jazz saxophonist Buyu Ambroise imports the infectious rhythms of his home country’s traditional konpa music into improvisation-heavy American-style jazz à la John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter. The result is an exhilarating blend of complex Haitian polyrhythms, experimental jazz harmonies, groove-inducing bass lines, and earworm brass solos.
