Haitian-born vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Richard “Earthman” Laurent presides over this nine-piece funk ensemble. Fela Kuti-inspired Afrobeat meets tribal house jams in the live turntablism of former Fugees DJ Hard Hittin Harry, who finds the danceable backbeat of West African djembe. The result is a sound that’s both sensual and mystic.
