Brooklyn Arts Council’s Harborlore Festival kicks off with this tribute to Caribbean music legend Irving Burgie, the composer of such world-famous songs as “Jamaica Farewell” and “Day-O,” made famous by Harry Belafonte. This evening of old-school calypso and reggae includes performances by Wrickford Dalgetty with Tropical Rhythms and Keith Johnston with the Widdayah Jamaican Band, with Burgie himself joining in to sing along on some of his best-known hits.
