"Few musicians in Latin jazz have more street cred than trombonist Papo Vazquez. A member of the seminal Fort Apache Band, he has been a part of this music's renaissance both in the US and in Puerto Rico for several decades."
—Elliott Simon, All About Jazz – New York

Grammy-nominated trombonist Papo Vazquez has been at the forefront of the Latin jazz scene since the late 1970s. He has performed with jazz greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Tito Puente, co-founded the legendary Fort Apache Band, and has been commissioned by Wynton Marsalis and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. Fusing Afro-Caribbean rhythms with jazz harmonics, he performs a special “sábado de gloria” show in conjunction with the 14th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival with his band Mighty Pirates Troubadours.
