Vocal and percussion ensemble SEFIRA comprises three noted singers—Malika Zarra (described by John Zorn as “a rare and special voice”), Sofia Rei (“one of the most versatile and in-demand singers on the New York music scene,” according to All About Jazz), and Sachal Vasandani (who JazzTimes called “among the foremost post-millenial male vocalists”)—with backgrounds in Moroccan Berber music, South American jazz, and the classic American songbook, respectively.
