Mavis 'SWAN' Poole puts forth a big, brassy sound and an all-cards-on-the-table swagger, summoning the likes of Curtis Mayfield; Earth, Wind & Fire; and Jill Scott with delirious abandon. Catch the eight-piece juggernaut—which includes the inimitable Jeremy ”Bean” Clemons on drums and Mavis ”SWAN” Poole on vocals—at BAMcafé Live as it performs songs from its forthcoming debut album. The show will feature special guest Brian Jackson, who is best known for his collaborations with Gil Scott Heron.
