Since its formation in 2001, New York City-based jazz quintet The Flail has established itself as one of the city’s most accomplished ensembles, regularly performing at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, and Small’s Jazz Club, among others. The outfit’s ultra-melodic, rhythmically complex original compositions contain shades of Coltrane and Ellington peppered with a thrilling dash of free-jazz experimentation.
