Carolina Chocolate Drops
Featuring the dance “Cornbread Duet”
Choreographed by Twyla Tharp
Danced by Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild

Known for their fresh interpretation of old-time, fiddle, and banjo-based music, the Grammy Award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops come to BAM to perform music from their two Nonesuch releases, Genuine Negro Jig (2010) and Leaving Eden (2012). The evening also features the world premiere of Cornbread Duet, a dance work by the iconic choreographer Twyla Tharp, set to music by the Carolina Chocolate Drops and featuring New York City Ballet principal dancers Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild.

This engagement celebrates Nonesuch’s broad musical mission and serves as a precursor to BAM’s celebration of the renowned record label’s 50th anniversary this fall. BAM has long fostered an artistic connection with Nonesuch for its dedication to cultivating outstanding talent in a wide variety of genres, including classical, contemporary, jazz, Americana, world music, pop, alternative, musical theater, and dance.
