Tammy Faye Starlite in NICO: UNDERGROUND
- 9PM
Co-presented by Exile On Broadway and CBGB in conjunction with the 2014 Next Wave Festival production of Exposed: Songs for Unseen Andy Warhol Films
Uncannily channeling the Warhol superstar, Velvet Underground vocalist, and pop-culture icon Nico, cabaret artist Tammy Faye Starlite’s uproarious one-woman show is part deadpan satire, part affectionate homage to a one-of-a-kind personality. Starlite covers the German-born singer’s husky-voiced ballads and inhabits her icy, larger-than-life persona in mock interviews, resulting in a totally unique evening of entertainment that captures the beguiling strangeness that was at the heart of Nico’s allure.
