In conjunction with Art Action Day

New York City's first and only all-female full mariachi ensemble brings its fresh, boundary-breaking take on traditional Mexican music to BAMcafé. With disparate roots, including several regions of Mexico, as well as Puerto Rico, Europe, and the US, each member brings her own rich cultural heritage to the group's versatile sound. The Latin Grammy winners recently capped an international tour with Cafe Tacvba, where—like the toloache flower, which is still considered a love potion in Mexico—the women cast a spell over audiences.

This BAMcafé Live event is presented in conjunction with Art Action Day, a series of art happenings taking place throughout the US on Saturday, January 20. The day is organized by The Federation, which was founded in late 2017 by artists and arts leaders, to reinforce the message that art is essential to democracy and unity.
