Selected by WNYC as the Best Band in Manhattan in 2015, Los Habaneros is led by the gritty, witty, and streetwise Gerardo Contino. Known as “El Abogado de la Salsa,” this Havana-born singer and songwriter was lead singer of the Cuban mega-group NG La Banda before he moved to New York to create his own band. Los Habaneros has toured all over the world and across the five boroughs, from Le Poisson Rouge to the Bronx Museum. The band received a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council grant and has been invited to the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, DC.
