Olivier Py Sings
WORLD PREMIERE
Olivier Py Sings Les Premiers Adieux de Miss Knife
Sep 20—Sep 23, 2017

Music | Theater

A beguiling chanteuse with a voice of honey and barbed wire, Miss Knife oozes grit, glitz, and old-world glamour. Clad in stilettos and drenched in rhinestones, she’s also the alter-ego of polymathic artist and Festival d’Avignon director Olivier Py (Requiem for Srebrenica, 2000 Next Wave). Holding court with a four-piece jazz ensemble, she tears through a soul-baring suite of original French avant-cabaret, singing of life in the limelight and love in the shadows. Every night one New York guest artist—Joey Arias (Sep 20), Angélique Kidjo (Sep 21), Ute Lemper (Sep 22), and Jo Lampert (Sep 23)—will join Miss Knife's soirée.

Music by Stéphane Leach
Texts by Olivier Py
Costume design by Pierre-André Weitz

Produced by Les Visiteurs du Soir with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States.
