Riz Ahmed
This intimate new work by Riz Ahmed—whose recent performance in Sound of Metal earned him international praise and best actor nominations at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and more—is now back by popular demand, following a sold-out premiere in December. The musician, storyteller, actor, and activist unravels his acclaimed album, The Long Goodbye, for the digital realm in this abbreviated adaptation of his live show (originally slated for BAM’s 2020 spring season and currently postponed). Blending music and storytelling from the album with immersive sound, Ahmed guides audiences through an emotional landscape, telling the story of this moment through his own personal journey.
Tickets are on sale now through the Manchester International Festival (MIF) website. Ticket buyers will receive an email from MIF with the URL to view the performance and instructions on how to log in to their online platform. If you bought a ticket for the original livestream premiere in December, you can watch the on-demand stream again by logging into your existing account on the MIF website.

Upon the album’s release, Pitchfork called the album “a compelling, unapologetic account of what it feels like to be brown and British in 2020” and wrote of Ahmed’s performance: “rarely has his rage been as incandescent and pointed as on his second album.” The Long Goodbye: Livestream Edition is produced by BAM and Manchester International Festival.
