The Long Goodbye
Music The Long Goodbye: Online Edition

VIRTUAL

Dec 19, 2020

    Running Time: 30min

    Riz Ahmed

Riz Ahmed adapts his acclaimed album—“a compelling, unapologetic account of what it feels like to be brown and British in 2020” (Pitchfork)—for the digital realm in this one-night-only live stream.

Musician, storyteller, actor, and activist Riz Ahmed unravels this year’s acclaimed album, The Long Goodbye, for the digital realm in a special one-night-only live stream performance. This abbreviated adaptation of his live show (originally slated for BAM's 2020 spring season and postponed until 2021) blends music and storytelling from the album with archival footage and immersive, binaural sound to guide audiences through an emotional landscape, telling the story of this moment through Ahmed’s personal journey.

Upon the album’s release earlier this year, Pitchfork called the album “a compelling, unapologetic account of what it feels like to be brown and British in 2020” and wrote of Ahmed’s performance: “rarely has his rage been as incandescent and pointed as on his second album.” The Long Goodbye: Online Edition will be streamed live and is produced by BAM and Manchester International Festival.
