Matthew Whitaker
- 4PM
Fort Greene Park (Myrtle Ave lawn)
Pianist Matthew Whitaker kicks off BAM's outdoor fall music festival with a dynamic blend of jazz, hip-hop, and soul. Whitaker is a lifelong musician studying classical piano and drums at The Filomen M. D’Agostino Greenberg Music School of the Lighthouse Guild in NYC. Whitaker was featured on 60 Minutes last December and has headlined at the Newport Jazz Festival and at the Kennedy Center this past year.
Aurora Nealand will open for Whitaker. Nealand is a latter day female Sidney Bichet on woodwinds–singer and bandleader– a master of styles from early New Orleans jazz to contemporary musical theater.
The safety of our audiences, staff, and artistic community is our top priority. All guests must show proof of vaccination at the entry points and masks must be worn at all times. Please visit BAM’s safety protocol page for the most up-to-date information.
