This American Life: One Night Only at BAM

This American Life comes to BAM with a live presentation that’s unlike anything it’s ever attempted before: an evening of journalism presented as radio drama. It includes an original mini-musical by Broadway composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Bring It On), in which Miranda himself performs, alongside Lindsay Mendez and Anthony Ramos Martinez. The production is directed by Michael Mayer (American Idiot, Spring Awakening, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) and features set design by Christine Jones (Queen of the Night, American Idiot, Spring Awakening), costumes by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Mark Barton, and sound by Nevin Steinberg.

There are stories by comedian Mike Birbiglia (Sleepwalk With Me) and Saturday Night Live’s Sasheer Zamata, dance from The Monica Bill Barnes Dance Company, and songs from Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields). Finally, writer Joshuah Bearman has an original radio drama directed by Terry Kinney, starring Josh Hamilton and James Ransone.
