Binge-Worthy Journalism with the Creators of Serial
Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder
Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, co-creators of the hit podcast Serial, take the stage to discuss the creation of this cultural phenomenon. Using some of their favorite tape, host Koenig and executive producer Snyder tell personal behind-the-scenes stories, delve into the construction of certain episodes, and share the ups and downs of creating a new form of modern journalism.
Serial launched in the fall of 2014 and became the fastest podcast to reach five million downloads in iTunes history. In 2015, Serial also became the first podcast ever to win a Peabody Award. Co-created by veteran radio journalists and producers Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, Serial quickly went on to become the most popular podcast in the world. For its first season, it presented a 12-part series centered on one legal case, taking its time and proving that slow-motion journalism could captivate and sustain its vast podcast listenership.
