A Look at the Stars: Shakespeare and the Cosmos
In Conjunction with King and Country
With Summer Ash of Columbia Astronomy Public Outreach
Invoking Shakespeare’s references to the celestial—“Ah, Richard, with the eyes of heavy mind; I see thy glory like a shooting star” (Richard II)—Columbia Astronomy Public Outreach director Summer Ash leads this guided tour of the stars. Telescopes will be set up and Ash and her team of astronomers will be on hand to answer questions. Admission each evening is on a continual first-come, first-served basis. This event is weather permitting.

In this momentous six-week residency, director Gregory Doran and the Royal Shakespeare Company present Shakespeare’s epic four-play cycle comprising Richard II, Henry IV Parts I & II, and Henry V.

David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) makes his US stage debut as the ineffectual king in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s masterful take on Shakespeare’s study of squandered sovereignty.
