Omar Victor Diop: The Studio of Vanities

Staged Portraits of Africa’s Contemporary Urban
May 29—Jun 4, 2016
Peter Jay Sharp Building

BAM Visual Art presents four works by Senegalese photographer Omar Victor Diop from the artist’s Studio of Vanities series. This ongoing project features elaborately staged portraits that capture the many and varied fresh faces of an emerging creative class in contemporary Africa. The portraits themselves reflect a kind of creative collaboration, in this case between sitter and photographer. The portraits are on display in the lobby of the Peter Jay Sharp Building for the duration of the DanceAfrica festival.
